Goodbye 2009, Hello 2010! And FreeRice Organization
Wow, one more day and another year will pass. Looking back, I realized that 2009 was a year of discoveries for me. It was also a year of making the hardest decisions I would make in a long time. And because of those hard decisions, it also lead to a year of lots of crying. I think 2009 was the year where I actually gave in and just release what has been on my mind- the good and the bad. As lame as it sounds, crying can become your best friend. By doing so it helps release and reduce the burden, stress, problems and whatever sadness there may be in one's life. Even though it does not really fix the problems, you know that sometimes, crying is just what you need.
Besides crying, I also finally accepted the fact that I am a fickle person. I am undecided and fickle-minded, at least I think so. If you know me and you are reading this, would you think so too? I could blabber on many situations to prove it to you. But one would be that awkward situations were almost always a fail for me. Especially when I meet people I want to know more about. This is when I choose between "should I start a conversation or should I not?". When that time actually comes and a chance to say something, my not-so-confident-self ponders the room as if that person was not even there. I really wish I would stop ignoring people I want to know more, but it seems the harder I try the more likely I become nervous and silent. Then voila! Their first impression of me is ruined.
Hmmm, I do not always ignore the people I want to know more about. Have you ever met someone and right away you knew that you guys would become pretty good friends? Then you meet someone else and your first words come out as a crack. FAIL. Maybe it is due to physical attraction or thinking that the person is too good/awesome to become your friend? Hmm, here I go again.. blabbering on.
Well, since it is going to be a new year soon, why not start it off by doing something good? I found this really neat site called free rice and it is basically an organization that donates 10 grains of rice through the World Food Programme (to help end hunger) every time you answer a question right. It is really neat and you can find different kinds of subjects such as art, chemistry, math, english, geography and language. Just click here to pick which one you would like to play. And click here for FAQ. Oh, and tell your friends about the site, the more people play, the more they will donate free rice! Thanks to the other thousands of people who played, FreeRice was able to feed millions of people ever since it started in October of 2007!
Make a difference to the world! Even if the difference is not as big as you would like it to be, at least you know that you are still helping people through that act of kindness and generosity. Make that be your New Year's Resolution. Because it is going to be part of my New Year's Resolution list! Hoorah! :)

Haha I find myself blabbering on like that too a lot but I don't think its such a bad thing. Also I've known about the Freerice thing for awhile now but I had forgotten about it. My mom used to play on it a lot with the vocabulary and I would always help her with it. Haha :)
You talking about wanting to get to know people and that sort of thing has sort of inspired me to try doing that more... and I know exactly how feel about that lol. Its hard some of the time.
Happy New Year by the way!
Ah i see. The FreeRice vocabulary game really helps people learn new words. I'm glad I've given you a sort of an inspiration to get to know people more. Even though it's hard, sometimes the unexpected happens (like that friend becomes your bestest friend hehe).
Anyways, I had a GREAT start of the New Year! I hope you had a great start too!
Another great charity site is AIDtoCHILDREN.com. It donates money to children in need through World Vision.
Check it out at http://www.aidtochildren.com.
